Carol A. Haire, Certified Speech-Language Pathologist
Education: Master of Science in Communication Disorders at Southern Connecticut State University
Professional Experience: Carol has devoted her life to working with children, beginning when she received her Baccalaureate degree in Early Childhood Education. Upon graduation, she started teaching preschool children and continued to work in various schools and daycare settings. After many years of working in this profession, she realized that she wanted to help children learn communication skills. This decision was validated when she attended Southern Connecticut State University. While there, she worked with clients of all ages in a clinical setting. In addition to the clinical setting, Carol worked with acute care hospital patients and also in a school setting as part of her clinical experience. After the culmination of her studies, she received her Master of Science Degree in Communication Disorders. Since graduating, she has worked with children and adults with Communication Impairments. Her most recent experience was in a school environment. As a component of working in the schools, Carol has supervised and trained many interns and Speech-Language Assistants. While expanding her knowledge of communication disorders, she has attended many trainings, expanding her expertise in working with non-verbal individuals, children presenting with Childhood Apraxia of Speech, and Autistic children. She has received certification in many programs that enhance communication skills such as Picture Exchange Communication System (PECS), Visualizing and Verbalizing (Linda Bell), and Phongraphix. Carol is passionate about increasing communication in the clients that she works with and always looks forward to meeting new children and young adults.
